What is the purpose of a logo?

A logo is an identity, a symbol, an iconographic and concise representation of a brand, a service or a product. It is created to represent important brand messages or values, intended to perpetuate awareness and facilitate communication. Our brain 🧠 usually remembers a simple image more easily than words. However, a logo can be a logotype as a monogram or a font or the combination of both.

Okay, once we've said that, how do we do it?

A creative mind is essential to create a logo. You have to know how to convey values and ideas, while being innovative and differentiating. Think about the image that the logo gives off in its context. Does it identify me, stand out among my competitors? Are my choices interpreted in the same way in the geographical areas potentially targeted, does the name carry the same values?

Beyond the logo, the visual identity is often declined in graphic charter. This corresponds to the transposition of the logo, colors, shapes and intentions for digital communication (website, social networks, email signature, etc. ...) or print (business card, letterhead, stamp, flyers, magazine etc. ...). The graphic charter feeds the soul of the logo and sets the limits for the media to create.

As for fashion, a good logo must follow, even anticipate trends. It must evolve over time to remain consistent with the perception of values. Either because the values to be transmitted evolve, for example, to integrate a notion of respect for the environment or a rise in value. Or because the trends evolve, as the straight aspect can refer to strict, rigid or luxury. The evolution of the logo must preserve the identification of the product, service or company for which it is designed.

Anything with your logo on it conveys your image and is therefore considered guaranteed to be who you are. This means for customers that they can trust you. Your logo is you!

But how do we do it all!

Yes, creating a logo and then developing a graphic charter to apply it to all your communication media is quite a challenge! You have to know how to define the values and the image you want to associate with your logo. Transform this framework into a graphic design taking into account the context and current trends. It is therefore necessary to be a graphic designer or a computer graphics designer.

Your logo defines the identity of your brand, it is important to devote energy, thought and time. Get a team of communicators to work with you. The different resources of a communication agency offer a wider creativity.
